Therapy is about understanding the self that you are, but part of getting to know yourself is to un-know yourself. To let go of the limiting stories you’ve told yourself about who you are so that you aren’t trapped by them. So that you can live your life and not the story you’ve been telling yourself about your life.

What To Expect
Your first session will be about an hour long. After we review practice policies, we will spend some time talking about your history (including any previous therapy experiences), your current symptoms and struggles, and your therapeutic goals. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the therapeutic process.

Typically, subsequent sessions will last approximately 45-50 minutes.

All fees and copays will be required at the start of each session unless we negotiate otherwise

If you need to reach me between sessions, it will be best to message me via email or you can text my work number.

My Approach

I view therapy as a partnership. We will collaborate on helping you explore your past, make sense of your present, and work towards your goals. Because the relationship is so important to growth and change, we will spend time building that. I will invite you to look into your past, including your childhood and recognition of how it shaped you. We will look at personal history, family history, beliefs, values, and both positive and negative experiences. I want to know how you came to the story of yourself. We will see what kinds of patterns there are and how you might want to work to change them. We will work on developing new ways of thinking about situations and I will encourage insight and the development and utilization of new strategies to help with coping as well as fulfillment in your everyday life.

Depending on your needs, we might work on building healthy coping skills, development of tools for depression and/or anxiety symptoms, and social and communication skills.

Sometimes I might utilize journaling or in-session writing. Most of the time we will talk.
If you are on the Autism spectrum and struggle with social skills and communication skills, I will work to help you develop those at a pace that feels comfortable for you and using tools that make sense to you.

There will be no judgment. I believe in the value and worth of every individual. There will be humor, compassion, and unconditional positive regard.
